Elko now has 19 transfers who have pledged to attend A&M. Elko was brought in from Duke by the Aggies in late November to take Jimbo Fisher’s place.

Along with offensive coordinator Collin Klein, defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, associate head coach and running backs coach Trooper Taylor, receivers coach Holmon Wiggins, defensive backs coaches Ish Aristide and Wes McGriff, offensive line coach Adam Cushing, defensive line coaches Sean Spencer and Tony Jerod-Eddie, special teams coach Patrick Dougherty, and strength coach Tommy Moffitt, Elko has completed his initial coaching staff at A&M.

In 2021, he broke the college football world’s biggest story of the year, which was that Texas and Oklahoma were secretly preparing to join the SEC.
He finished in second place nationally in the APSE for
exposing the Dennis Franchione “secret newsletter” affair in 2007 and earning third place nationally in 2012 for his reporting on Texas A&M’s transition from the Big 12 to the SEC.
Brent is most proud of his 1988 Dayton Invitational Basketball Tournament MVP title, which he won as the first-ever Texan to win national beat writer of the year from the Football Writers Association of America.
Before an A&M-Texas Tech football game in 2002, Brent met his wife, Crystal Galny, a news anchor for KBTX-TV. The couple has three kids, Will, Zoe, and Brady.
