Memphis Basketball’s Jaykwon Walton to enter transfer portal, reports say
Tennessee’s Memphis Jaykwon Walton of Memphis intends to use the transfer portal, according to a tweet sent out by Jon Rothstein, the College Basketball Insider for CBS Sports, on Friday.
Before joining the Tigers in 2023–24, the senior played two seasons at Georgia, one each at Shelton State CC and Wichita State.
Walton has not yet logged into the site, and based on a source close to the program, ABC24 has learned that he is no longer eligible.
Walton averaged 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds a game.
The senior becomes the fifth player to enter the portal this offseason. On Thursday guard Jayhlon Young committed to Vermont. Menawhile Memphis forward Jonathan Pierre, guard Carl Cherenfant and forward Ashton Hardaway remain in the portal.
Memphis has picked up two big signings by way of transfer guard PJ Haggerty and transfer Dain Dainja. They also signed guard Jared Harris in November.
