Since Geno Smith has experience overcoming adversity, it should come as no surprise that the Seahawks quarterback isn’t being phased out by the offseason changes in Seattle.

This offseason, the NFC West team hired former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Pete Carroll to take over as head coach, ending Carroll’s 14-year tenure.

Smith has a new face in the quarterback room as he gets ready for his sixth season in Seattle and his 12th overall after his team traded for former Commanders quarterback Sam Howell.

However, Smith maintains he won’t alter his strategy for the upcoming season in spite of a new coaching staff and new opponents vying for his spot in the starting lineup.

Smith said to the Seahawks website, “New coaching staff, old coaching staff, I’ve got everything to prove.” That’s how I get out of bed every morning. Sam and I are rivals. He’s competing with me, I know that. I’m going to give it my all. To be the best I can be, I’m going to compete with everyone in this building.

Smith discussed Macdonald’s appointment in passing and emphasized that all of his teammates are “buying in” to the new man’s strategies.

He went on, “The real thing is you gotta buy in.” “You have to buy in, no matter who’s leading this or who’s coaching.” The main takeaway is that all of the guys must commit. I believe that’s what’s going on right now.
