NCAA finally drops hammer on Arizona State football for recruiting violations
An NCAA statement today contained fines against the program and marked the end of the more than three-year investigation into recruiting infractions by the Arizona State football staff during the COVID pandemic.
The agreed-upon penalties include a fine, four years of probation for the school, a self-imposed postseason ban for the football season in 2023 (which was announced last year), the removal of records for games in which student-
athletes who are not eligible to compete competed, a reduction in scholarship funds, and recruiting restrictions in accordance with the school’s Level I-mitigated classification.
The school disassociated an involved booster for a period of five years. The individuals also agreed to or did not contest show-cause orders ranging from three to 10 years consistent with the Level I-aggravated classifications of their respective violations.
