West Ham United have made contact over a possible move for Arsenal’s goalscoring sensation Folarin Balogun, according to 90min.
It’s believed the 21-year-old American international is desperate for first-team football and has rejected a new deal at The Emirates (90min, 26 June).
Arsenal are understood to have told his agents to find him a new club, with an alternative solution looking unlikely at present.
Sky Sports also report on Monday 26 June that the Gunners value the striker in the region of £50million.
Exciting
This would be an extremely exciting addition if the board can get a move over the line.
There appears to be plenty of competition for Balogun’s signature, but it feels as if he’s a good fit at the London Stadium. With Michail Antonio’s career entering its latter stages and Gianluca Scamacca failing to make an impact, another striker is desperately required.
The American would be a superb acquisition. He has scored goals in France and is still only 21. He’s eager to play regularly and be the main man, which is exactly what David Moyes will want.
Players who are hungry and eager to impress are hard to locate in the modern game.
With Arsenal now opening the door for a summer transfer, this is a move that we could envisage happening, especially if Declan Rice goes the other way.
£70million plus Balogun would be an excellent piece of business for Hammers if the board can work their magic during negotiations.
The sooner Rice’s future is decided the better for everyone at West Ham United.
