Edmonton Elks sign CFL draft pick Vincent Blanchard, one other
The Edmonton Elks have signed Canadian kicker Vincent Blanchard and American defensive back Marquis Wilson.
Blanchard was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 CFL Draft out of Université Laval. The 25-year-old native of Quebec City, Que. made 94 percent of his field goals this past season, earning second-team U Sports All-Canadian honours.
The six-foot, 211-pounder finished his collegiate career with a 74.6 percent average on field goals and a 39.7-yard average on punts. He recently participated in rookie minicamp with the New England Patriots.
Wilson played five games at Purdue University this past season, recording 20 total tackles and six pass deflections.
The five-foot-eleven, 185-pound native of Windsor, Conn., native previously played at Penn State where he made 57 total tackles, two interceptions, seven pass deflections, and four forced fumbles over 38 games. The 24-year-old participatd in rookie minicamp with the Miami Dolphins earlier this month.
The Elks will open their 2024 regular season by hosting the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday, June 8.
