Saskatchewan Roughriders sign offensive lineman Daniel Johnson
Daniel Johnson weights 320 pounds and is six feet six. The Saskatchewan Roughriders selected the 24-year-old Nairobi, Kenya native with the 41st choice in the fifth round of the 2024 CFL Draft. Johnson was there at last week’s Indianapolis Colts rookie minicamp.
Johnson played both tackle positions in 15 games during his four seasons as a collegiate player at Kent State (2018–21), starting ten of those games for the Golden Flashes. In terms of overall offense (2,426 yards) and scoring (199), Kent State’s offense led the NCAA in 2020.
Following that, Johnson moved to Purdue University (2022–2023), where he started ten games for the Boilermakers at both left and right tackle. Johnson gave up one hit, one sack, and eight quarterback hurries in 2023. At the end of the season, Purdue’s offense averaged 23.92 points per game, 38 touchdowns, 168.8 running yards, 211.17 passing yards, and 379.9 total yards.
