Insider gives encouraging Jaxson Robinson update if he returns to school
Two scholarships are still available for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats as they try to complete their roster for the 2024–25 campaign.
Recently, a number of names have received a lot of attention, but since Pope was named the new head coach in Lexington, one name has been associated with the Cats.
It would be Jaxson Robinson, the player.
Robinson, who is now undergoing the NBA Draft process, made waves for BYU last season and is predicted to be selected in the mid-to-late second round of the NBA Draft next month. But in the BBN and most collegiate basketball circles, that prediction has raised the question, “Will Robinson keep his name in the draft?”
If he does withdraw by the deadline of May 29th, things for Kentucky continue to go in the right direction, albeit that question appears to remain open.
A report by Sarah Todd of Deseret News claims that multiple people with knowledge of the matter strongly believe that Kentucky has a good chance of obtaining Robinson.
Multiple sources close to the situation told the Deseret News that if Robinson decides to withdraw from the draft, they fully expect him to be playing for Kentucky next season,” writes Todd.
It’s worth noting that the Kansas Jayhawks are now seen as a major contender for Robinson if he returns to school, but Kentucky will obviously still be a major player.
At the moment, it appears that Robinson and North Florida transfer guard Chaz Lanier are the two players with the most traction to take one of the final roster spots. Add one of them, and the roster immediately adds a go-to-scorer to help with the solid depth built by Coach Pope and his staff.
