Celtic’s signings in the previous summer transfer window have come under the microscope in recent times. The Hoops made nine new additions to the squad, with seven being brought in permanently while two arrived on loan. Only Luis Palma and Paulo Bernardo have made any meaningful contribution to the team so far.

Gustaf Lagerbielke did have a big Champions League moment against Feyenoord but overall, he does not seem to be in Rodgers’ plans and has been linked with an exit already.

Marco Tilio could leave on loan as well. Nat Phillips has already left, with his loan spell coming to an end.

One summer signing has departed Celtic Park before Lagerbielke and Tilio. It is Kwon Hyeok-kyu, who did not make a single appearance in the first half of the season.

As tweeted by Celtic’s official account, Kwon has joined St Mirren on loan. He will return at the end of the season.

Celtic announce departure of summer signing on loan
Kwon had arrived in the summer amid a lot of expectations but it has become clear by now that he is not ready to contribute to the first-team yet. A loan spell at St Mirren might do him a world of good though.

St Mirren sit 5th in the Premiership table. They are having a very decent season. Hopefully, Kwon will end up getting some playing time there and have the chance to adjust to the Scottish game, having not even made his debut for Celtic yet.

Just because Kwon has been sent out on loan after a disappointing first half of the season does not mean that he has no future at Celtic.

Liam Scales spent the previous campaign at Aberdeen and has managed to establish himself as a starter since returning to Parkhead in the summer.
