Virginia Tech football: Former Hokies DL Mario Kendricks signs with the Dolphins

No Virginia Tech football player was selected in last month’s 2024 NFL draft, but a few quickly found homes afterward. Defensive tackle Norell Pollard signed with the Washington Commanders, and fellow DT Pheldarius Payne reached a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Another of Tech’s defensive tackles, Mario Kendricks, had a tryout with the Kansas City Chiefs, while wide receiver/kick returner Cole Beck had tryouts with the Falcons and Jets.

It didn’t take Kendricks long to land a job, as the former Hokie signed a deal with the Miami Dolphins.

Kendricks’ three-year deal means he will go to training camp with the Dolphins, looking to earn a roster spot. Miami did lose starting defensive tackle Christian Wilkins in free agency and could be looking for help on the interior.

Kendricks was a former three-star recruit from Osceola High School (Florida) and played five seasons at Virginia Tech. In total, Kendricks appeared in 56 games for the Hokies with 20 starts. He finished his college career with 67 tackles, including 17 for loss and seven sacks.

Good luck, Mario.
