Steelers’ Signing Cameron Sutton a Good Move? | Details into Charges | CBs Set with Joey Porter Jr.?

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed cornerback Cameron Sutton Wednesday during OTAs, returning the team’s former starter after he was cut by the Detroit Lions.

The Steelers signed cornerback Cameron Sutton to a one-year contract.

Sutton was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Tennessee and was with the team through the 2022 season, before signing with the Detroit Lions as a free agent in 2023.

Sutton started all 17 games for the Lions in 2023, finishing the season with 65 tackles, 50 of them solo stops, six passes defensed, four tackles for a loss, one interception and one forced fumble.

In 2022, Sutton had 43 tackles, 35 of them solo stops, 15 passes defensed and a tackle for a loss, while starting 15 of the 16 games he played in. He also had a career-high three interceptions.

Sutton finished the 2021 season with 52 tackles, 44 of them solo stops, eight passes defensed, two interceptions, four tackles for a loss and a forced fumble while starting 16 games. Sutton played in all 16 games in 2020, starting six.

In a corresponding move, the team released receiver Izaiah Gathings.
