“I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live. It’s a spiritual thing.”
“I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live. It’s a spiritual thing.”
Lenny Kravitz has opened up about his romantic life while speaking with The Guardian this month.
The coveted music icon shared that not only has he been single for nine years (hoping to find “the one”), but has also been practicing celibacy through his “spiritual” journey.
Kravitz, who has been dubbed a “sex symbol” spoke on how his new mindset came to be, referencing as far back as his childhood. After his marriage to Lisa Bonet, he admitted that he became promiscuous, much like his father was.
“After the marriage, I became more like him. I was becoming a player,” he revealed. “I didn’t like it. I didn’t want to be that guy. So I had to tackle that and it took years… By taking responsibility. Discipline. Not letting my own desires take over.”
According to the pub, the 60-year-old once recalled hearing his father on the phone talking to different women and then realizing that he was having an affair.
Kravitz remembered confronting his dad, who in return told him that he’d “end up doing the same thing.” And according to the “American Woman” legend, “He became right.”
Now, Kravitz practices abstinence as he revealed that “he’s not been in a serious relationship for nine years.” He added, “I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live. It’s a spiritual thing.”
In the past, the New Yorker has been romantically linked to Michelle Rodriguez, Kylie Minogue, Adriana Lima, and Vanessa Paradis. However, his most most notable romantic relationship was his marriage to Lisa Bonet. The two tied the knot in 1987 and divorced in 1993.
