Leeds United are expected to appoint Daniel Farke as their new manager as a replacement for Sam Allardyce.

Daniel Farke is now expected to be named as the new Leeds United boss following his departure from Borussia Monchengladbach.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Leeds are expected to finalise the appointment of Farke as their new boss.

The Whites are moving on from Sam Allardyce after he was unable to keep Leeds in the Premier League.

Leeds fans have been hoping to get an appointment sorted soon but the takeover from 49ers Enterprises has delayed the situation a little.

Other managers have been linked with the Leeds job in recent weeks.

Patrick Vieira was thought to be a prime target whilst Carlos Carvalhal was touted as a candidate.

Contact was made for Scott Parker too but Leeds now appear to be going for Farke as their new manager.

What’s interesting is that Leeds are chasing a deal for Liverpool defender Nat Phillips despite not having a manager.

The Athletic claim that Farke wanted the £10million defender Norwich City though, suggesting that he would support a Leeds move.

Why are Leeds United going for Daniel Farke?

The 46-year-old ticks one huge box for Leeds – his history of winning promotion out of the Championship.

Farke has twice taken Norwich to the Premier League and Leeds will be banking on his track record working out at Elland Road.

Farke’s availability is also appealing as he left his post as Borussia Monchengladbach boss this summer.

The German only spent a year in charge of Gladbach but is already seeking a new opportunity.

Farke’s record in the Bundesliga wasn’t even that bad; 10th place with 11 wins, 10 draws and 13 defeats.

Marcus Thuram was in the form of his life under Farke and the hope is that he can get Leeds players ticking too.

Farke – hailed as ‘exceptional’ by Pep Guardiola – has the Premier League and Championship experience Leeds want as they plot a return to the top flight.

This move makes real sense for Leeds and it looks like a deal isn’t far away from being announced.
