Brighton & Hove Albion continue to show interest in young Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill, who had a successful loan spell at the club last season and following that, finds himself on Liverpool’s radar as well.

That is according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook via ECHO who were also first to mention Liverpool’s interest in securing the signature of Colwill over the summer transfer window.

Liverpool had also expressed admiration for the 20-year-old defender, as they intensified their search for a new defensive addition. The Reds’ interest became apparent just days before Brighton’s initial £30m bid was rejected by Chelsea not very long ago.

Although there were initial statements of a potential club-record £40m offer from Brighton, no such bid materialised. However, Brighton has maintained their interest in Colwill, while Liverpool’s intentions remain unknown.

Unfortunately for both clubs, the new Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, reportedly intends to retain Colwill for the upcoming season, potentially dashing the hopes of Brighton and Liverpool.

Brighton’s continued pursuit of Colwill signals their determination to secure the talented young defender. The Seagulls were obviously, impressed with his performances during his loan spell and evidently see him as a valuable addition to their squad, as they would. He was instrumental in helping Brighton secure a number of results they did.

Liverpool’s need for versatile centre halves is getting much more evident by the day. Colwill’s ability to play as a centre-back and as a left-back as well makes him an ideal fit for Jurgen Klopp’s system going forward.

However, Chelsea’s reluctance to part ways with Colwill may force Liverpool to explore alternative options in their pursuit of defensive reinforcements. The Reds will need to assess their options carefully to ensure they find the right fit for their squad.

Ultimately, the final decision lies with Chelsea and their new manager. Whether Colwill remains at Stamford Bridge or makes a move to Brighton or Liverpool, the young defender’s future promises to be an intriguing storyline in the transfer market.
