One bar offered to pay everyone’s tabs if Patriots won. It paid up.

There may have been no place in America happier to see the New England Patriots pull off the upset win in Week 1 than a certain sports bar in Washington D.C.

That would be Dirty Water, a D.C. hotbed for Boston sports fans that placed a hefty bet on Sunday’s game against the heavily favored Cincinnati Bengals.

Despite the long odds as 8.5-point underdogs Patriots pulled off the upset — and Dirty Water paid up. According to the Boston Globe, the bar comped “about $6,000 in drinks.

On social media, Dirty Water wrote that they comped drinks through the end of the game.

“A good chunk of that were shots as the Patriots were kneeling out the last 1:40,” the bar wrote.

Outkick’s David Hookstead, who wrote that he was at Dirty Water on Sunday, said that he witnessed “many patriots leaving pretty significant tips” after having their drinks comped

It was a major loss financially, but the bar has been pretty positive about the results on social media, replying to comments by saying that they’re happy to see the team win.

However, the bar did put out one cavea

“No, we won’t be offering this for any Celtics games next year,” Dirty Water wrote in an edited version of their Instagram post.
