New York Rangers’ Jimmy Vesey week-to-week after Game 2 hit

Florida’s Fort Lauderdale — With an upper-body injury, Jimmy Vesey, a forward for the New York Rangers, is out and will be gone for a few weeks, according to coach Peter Laviolette on Saturday.

In the second frame of Game 2 of the Rangers’ Eastern Conference Final series on Friday, Ryan Lomberg of the Florida Panthers delivered a vicious blow on Vesey. He did not come back for the third quarter, and Laviolette stated that Vesey was still being assessed following the game.

With a 2-1 overtime win in Game 2, New York tied the series at one game.

Throughout the postseason, Vesey has been a consistent member of the Rangers’ bottom six, scoring one goal and dishing out three points in 12 games. While not expected to be available in Florida for Game 3 or Game 4, he did travel there with New York.

On Saturday, Laviolette did not say who will take Vesey’s place in New York. However, the Rangers coach was sure that the team’s strength would come through.

“The entire [playoffs] process is a long grind, without getting into the lineup [for Sunday],” Laviolette remarked. Things arise, just as they did the night before, and you require a large number of players available. It is advantageous for us that we have several players who are prepared to return to the starting lineup. We were becoming well. took a small knock last night, but having players ready to play is a plus.”

Reintroducing Blake Wheeler could be one of New York’s options. The veteran’s leg injury occurred in February, and he has not played since. Before Game 2, he warmed up with the Rangers, but he was left off the field. On Saturday, Laviolette stated that Wheeler’s return would require more than just a medical clearance; it would also require confirmation that he is prepared to compete during the most important time of the year.
Laviolette declared, “He is cleared to do everything.” “Everyone is eventually cleared after recovering from a significant injury, but depending on what they may have been dealing with, they still need to make sure their game is strong in certain areas. Reaching out to a former player means bringing your game back up to date. Blake is free to communicate; our goal is to ensure he is informed. He is making progress.”
