Luton Town are closing in on a deal for Danish defender Mads Juel Andersen, who is booked in for a medical at the promoted club before signing a four-year deal.
That’s according to BT, who say the 25-year-old is set to move from Barnsley should he complete a medical as expected.
Andersen has been with Barnsley since a €1m move from AC Horsens in Denmark in July 2019 and has since made 175 appearances for the club, establishing himself as a key player for them in the Championship and League One.
BT explain that his performances have not gone unnoticed and he had been in talks with Belgian side Standard Liege about a move there.
They had not come close to an agreement in those talks and in the interim newly promoted Luton have ‘come into the picture’, and the prospect of playing Premier League football has made him ‘change his mind’.
He’s long been planning a transfer this summer despite Barnsley triggering a one-year extension to his contract in the winter.
Now the ‘dream’ of a step up to the Premier League has become a reality and Luton have him booked in for a medical ahead of a move.
Should he pass that without any issues he will then sign for them on a four-year deal as part of their plans to strengthen for their first season in the Premier League.
