It has been reported that Brighton & Hove Albion are the frontrunners in the race to secure a loan deal for Manchester City wonderkid Cole Palmer.
This comes from the Sun, after it was recently claimed that RB Leipzig looked like a likely destination for the 21-year-old on loan.
However, it seems like Cole Palmer could continue to play his football in the Premier League, with Brighton & Hove Albion pushing to sign him on loan.
Brighton are best-placed to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City on loan
Branded as a player with ‘special quality’ by Pep Guardiola via Eurosport, the Wythenshawe-born winger made just seven starts in all competitions last season.
Despite Riyad Mahrez eventually losing his place in the side and Phil Foden suffering injuries, the highly-rated technician could not cement his place as his boyhood club’s go-to man on the right flank.
With Cole Palmer not expected to solidify his place at Manchester City for the foreseeable future, Brighton seem to be keen on signing him on loan and now are claimed to be in ‘pole position’ to do so.
It is claimed that the youngster’s immediate future could be linked to James McAtee’s, who has also been linked with an exit out on loan.
However, as the technically gifted midfielder might be asked to stay put, Palmer, who is also capable of providing cover in the middle of the park looks certain to go out on loan, regardless of which team he joins.
Brighton is the perfect club for him to explode
Brighton have a well-earned reputation of turning talented youngsters into big-names and Cole Palmer could undergo a similar rise, if he leaves Manchester City to join them to further hone his craft.
Roberto De Zerbi is also one of the best coaches in the Premier League and with his side’s ball-dominant brand of football, the mazy dribbler would become a part of a side that have a style of play that suits his game.
If Palmer does become a hit at the Amex Stadium, he could likely carry over that same form upon his return to City, which makes a move a sensible one if it goes through.
