Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, with the Blues preparing a shake-up under Mauricio Pochettino. The Reds will be in the market for new recruits this summer and the Chelsea man is on the radar.

According to the Daily Mail, a host of nig names could leave Stamford Bridge. One of those is Hudson-Odoi who will have just a year to run on his contract this summer and could be available for just £10 million.

It’s been a frustrating time of things for Hudson-Odoi during 2022/23. He’s been on loan in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen but has only started seven games, scoring once and claiming one assist.

His only strike of the campaign came in a Champions League draw against Atletico Madrid. Given his form during the season, it seems highly unlikely that Xabi Alonso will consider keeping the 22-year-old.

Forest head coach Steve Cooper knows all about the qualities of Hudson-Odoi. He oversaw some great form by the youngster in the England under-17 ranks. On that stage, he scored five goals in 22 appearances.

The 43-year-old is keen to add some creativity to his ranks this summer. Most of Forest’s creative spark came from Morgan Gibbs-White during 2022/23 and Cooper will want to ease the burden on him.

Hudson-Odoi hasn’t done too badly at Chelsea although he’s struggled to hold down a place in the team. In 126 outings for the club where he rose through the academy, he’s scored 16 goals and registered 22 assists.

Forest keen to sign Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea

This could be a pretty decent signing for the Reds to make. It’s claimed that a fee of £10 million could be enough to land him and Tony Cascarino has previously likened the player to Eden Hazard.

Hudson-Odoi simply needs to find his way once again. It’s not quite worked out for him in the Bundesliga and surely the player would jump at the chance to sign for another Premier League club.

His days at Chelsea appear to be numbered somewhat. The player earns £120,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge and it seems very unlikely that Pochettino will come in and hand him a contract extension.

Rumour rating: 8/10 – We like the sound of this one – a lot! Hudson-Odoi has lost his way a little bit in recent seasons but he still has bags of time to unearth his vast potential.

Cooper is a bit of a whizz when it comes to nurturing younger players. He will see it as a great challenge to get Hudson-Odoi firing again and he could sparkle at the City Ground.
