Having been strongly linked with the Leeds United managerial vacancy, Patrick Vieira has been confirmed as the new manager of Strasbourg.
Pre-season preparations get underway for the Whites today with still no confirmation as to who is going to be in the dugout for the opening game of the season in just over a month’s time.
The month of June brought a lengthy recruitment process for the 49ers to land their first managerial appointment since agreeing to take over the club on June 9.
What’s the latest with Patrick Vieira?
One person who won’t be taking over as manager of the club at the start of July is former Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira.
The Frenchman was one of the front-runners for the vacancy at Elland Road as the 49ers aimed to bring in a new manager prior to pre-season getting underway.
Vieira won’t be joining the club, though, with confirmation coming that he has taken over as Ligue 1 side Strasbourg’s new boss
Who will Leeds get as their new manager?
The likelihood now is that Leeds will press on and confirm the appointment of Daniel Farke as their new manager, after the BBC’s Adam Pope revealed an agreement was reached for the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach boss to join the club.
Farke, of course, has two Championship titles on his CV from his fine work at Norwich City previously, winning the league in 18/19 and 20/21.
An announcement has to come today, more so just to appease the fans who are growing tired of the lack of noise and movement.
We are in danger of being left behind by the clubs that are working quickly to get ready for the start of the season.
While it’s not entirely our fault that we’re being held up, we need to be moving a lot quicker than we are at getting things in place.
