Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has reportedly been told it will cost the club around £17million to sign a former Arsenal defender this summer.
The City Ground chief is looking to strengthen his starting XI as the club look to avoid a repeat of their struggle against relegation in their first season back in the Premier League last time around.
And, according to reports, Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos is firmly on the club’s radar.
The 25-year-old was at Arsenal between 2018 and 2022 but only featured in the first team eight times under both Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta.
Mavropanos completed a permanent move to Stuttgart last summer after a successful loan stint and has made a big impression in Germany after scoring eight times in 89 games for the Bundesliga outfit.
But, according to Bild, the Greece international is expected to be on the move again this summer and Forest have emerged as a major contender to sign him.
Mavropanos will not come cheaper, however, with the player currently having a £21million release clause.
But, according to Bild, Stuttgart are ready to listen to offers of around £17m for the player as they look to cash in.
Forest are not the only club chasing the former Arsenal man’s signature though, with Cooper facing a battle to get his man.
West Ham, Eintracht Frankfurt and Napoli are also thought to be keeping close tabs on Mavropanos, who cost Stuttgart just €3.2m (£2.8m) to poach from The Emirates last year.
