Pochettino, who turned up in a Mercedes with Jesus Perez, along with the rest of his backroom staff, sat down with Lee Parker of Chelsea TV for his opening chat about his new life at Chelsea.

The Argentine quickly expressed his excitement at being given the opportunity to work at Stamford Bridge and was quick to outline his plans for success, which included creating a culture of unity and togetherness to be able to succeed.

“It is a pleasure and honour to now be involved with Chelsea Football Club. We are so excited, and I know Chelsea very well, it is one of the greatest clubs in the world. So of course, it was easy for us to make the decision to move here.

“We are so happy that today we can start here at Cobham in the training ground and meet the people and the staff. It is exciting for us and what we want is to bring the happiness again to this great football club. We will work hard, play in a way the fans can enjoy football, and the history of Chelsea is to win – but it is important also in the way we are going to build those victories.”

Pochettino previously managed Paris Saint-Germain and prior to taking the role in France, he managed Chelsea’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who he guided to a Champions League final in 2019 but fell to defeat to Liverpool in Madrid. He departed shortly after in November 2019.

Chelsea’s constant success over the last 20 years has seen them cement themselves as one of England’s best and one of the best sides in the world (season dependent).

Pochettino believes Chelsea have been the greatest team, offering a blow to his former club, Spurs, fans.

“It’s a culture of winning,” Pochettino told Chelsea TV on the Blues. “In the last 10, 12, 15 years, Chelsea is the greatest team in England. I know very well the Premier League and what the culture of Chelsea means. I think our fans are excited to again be on the road of trying to win.”
