Leeds United goalkeeping coach Marcos Abad is set to depart the club following the appointment of Daniel Farke as their new manager, according to The Athletic.

Farke’s appointment as the new Leeds manager was confirmed this week and the German is already making his presence felt at Elland Road.

He is due to take training with the Leeds squad today for the first time since becoming their manager and is already ringing in the changes behind the scenes.

It has been claimed that Abad is the first casualty on the Leeds backroom staff since the new manager’s arrival.

The goalkeeping coach will be leaving Leeds after spending six years on the Whites’ backroom staff.

Abad was appointed as the Leeds goalkeeping coach following the recommendation of their former director of football Victor Orta.

He served under several different Leeds managers but will not be part of Farke’s backroom staff.

Eddie Riemer, Christopher John and Chris Domogalla have been added to the Leeds coaching staff by the new manager.

The trio has worked under Farke in his previous jobs and have experience of getting a team promoted to the Premier League from the Championship.

“Aggressive” Leeds United transfer approach emerges following Daniel Farke unveiling

Leeds United are going to be backing Daniel Farke fairly heavily in the transfer market this summer as they bid to clinch promotion at the first time of asking.

The Whites are finally pressing on with their plans for the start of the EFL campaign in August, announcing their new manager on Tuesday evening.

Leeds have brought in two-time Championship winner Daniel Farke following his previous dismissal from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Will the club back him?

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth has revealed alongside the manager’s announcement, that the club are expected to back the German fairly well in the transfer market.

On top of bringing in ambitious signings to help the side battle for promotion, the wage bill will remain relatively strong compared to the rest of the second tier:

“Farke is expected to be backed sufficiently this summer in the transfer window and given an ‘aggressive’ wage bill to help facilitate the promotion bid.”

Why did Leeds pick Farke?

Farke’s CV speaks for itself in the Championship, having managed three seasons previously in it with Norwich City, winning the league twice in the latter two.

Not only has Farke lifted the trophy twice, but has done so both times playing some of the most exciting football the league has seen at times, breezing past Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the Argentine’s first season at Elland Road.

Bringing in Farke is a superb start to the summer, but it’s only built on by backing him in the transfer market.

We need plenty of signings to ensure that we’re in a position to fight for the top two, given the tools he had at Norwich City.

This Leeds squad is better across the board, but we definitely need a creative number 10, and a striker able to hit the goals Teemu Pukki did.
