West Ham target Callum Hudson-Odoi wants to quit Chelsea this summer to play regular first-team football, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Jacobs added that the Hammers, along with Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, have enquired about his services.
The winger, who is on wages of £120,000-per-week [The Guardian, 28 June] made 21 appearances in all competitions last season while on loan at German club Bayer Leverkusen.
“Callum Hudson-Odoi wants to leave Chelsea for regular first-team football,” Jacobs wrote on Twitter. “As revealed last week, Fulham one of the leading contenders.
“Milan, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Crystal Palace have enquired. Newcastle interest only historical.”
West Ham are seemingly in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, with the East London club having said farewell to Manuel Lanzini following the expiry of his contract.
The likes of Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals remain viable options out wide, but David Moyes needs a large squad to be able to challenge on all fronts, and he certainly doesn’t have it right now.
The main priority for the Hammers boss will be to fill the gap that will be left by the outgoing Declan Rice, meaning much of the time over the coming weeks will be spent on identifying central midfield targets.
But it would be foolish not to look for attacking options at the same time, and the latest development should be fantastic news for the powers that be at the London Stadium.
Hudson-Odoi’s career has stalled in recent times, but he could definitely come to life once again under the right circumstances in claret and blue.
