The print edition of The Sun (1/7, page 67) have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now considering an approach for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Multiple reports over the last few weeks have suggested that Tottenham are ready to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg since he is not seen as a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play (Daily Mail).

So, the North London club could be in the market for reinforcements in the middle of the park.

That was reported by Football Insider a couple of weeks ago, with the outlet claiming that Postecoglou wants t0 add a midfield enforcer to the squad this summer.

Something similar was also suggested by The Daily Mail reporter Sami Mokbel, who told The Last World On Spurs last week that Spurs could turn their attention to signing a number six following their capture of James Maddison.

Palhinha is on Tottenham’s radar this summer

If The Sun’s latest update is to be believed, one of the options that Tottenham are eyeing is Palhinha, who enjoyed an exceptional first season in the Premier League after his move from Sporting Lisbon to Fulham 12 months ago.

However, the publication states that Spurs are not alone in their admiration for the 27-year-old, who is also wanted by London rivals West Ham United.

The report makes no mention of the kind of transfer fee that it would take to lure Palhinha away from Craven Cottage.

Palhinha would be a superb signing for Tottenham but the midfielder has four years left on his contract, with Fulham having the option to extend it by one more year.

That means that Marco Silva’s men are likely to demand more than £50m for the Portugal international.
