The latest Nottingham Forest news as the Reds are keen to complete a permanent deal for the goalkeeper this summer after a successful loan spell.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is among those to respond to a message from Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson on his return to training.

The former Forest loanee is back on the training pitch after undergoing surgery towards the end of last season. Injury cut short his season-long loan at Forest, with the Reds completing the loan signing of Keylor Navas from Paris Saint-Germain as a replacement.

Both have now returned to their parent clubs, but Steve Cooper is keen to make a permanent move for Henderson this summer after he impressed in the first half of last season. Uncertainty over the goalkeeper situation at Old Trafford has put doubt on a move.

Man United number one David de Gea is out of contract with the club and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal. Erik ten Hag’s side have also seen bids for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana turned down, although it is hoped that a compromise can be reached between the two teams.

The uncertainty has led to the Red Devils being reluctant to let Henderson go so far this summer. It means that the goalkeeper has returned to training with his Man United teammates.

Taking to Instagram, the 26-year-old has posted pictures of him training at the Carrington training complex. He added the caption: “Been a long time! Nice to be back out there.”

Gibbs-White, who along with Henderson, was a new arrival at Forest last summer, is among those in the replies. The midfielder wrote: “I need more” along with a disappointed face emoji.

That prompted responses from Forest fans calling on Gibbs-White to get on the phone to his former teammate to try to make a reunion at the City Ground happen. Henderson played 20 games in a Forest shirt last season, keeping six clean sheets.

Gibbs-White is currently away with the England U21 team as they prepare for the Euro U21 final tomorrow (Saturday). The Young Lions take on Spain with kick-off at 5pm.
