Nottingham Forest are eyeing a £10m for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi
As per Daily Mail (h/t Nottingham Post), Nottingham Forest are eyeing up a £10m move to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who spent this season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.
The report reveals that the 22-year-old is set to leave Chelsea this summer. The Blues will demand £10m for his sale in the transfer window.
Hudson-Odoi did not have the greatest of loan spells at Leverkusen, with only one goal and one assist from 21 appearances in all competitions.
He is a versatile player who can play on either wing and is comfortable operating as an attacking wing-back if necessary. He likes to take defenders on, make runs in behind and be an impact-maker in the final third. Although the numbers do not tell the story, he is a better player than that.
Having secured their place in the Premier League for another season, it is understandable why Forest are looking at a player who has played in this league before and possesses a good amount of experience despite being so young.
If they sign him this summer, they will get a player who is highly talented but lacks consistency. It would be up to Steve Cooper to bring the performance out of him.
If this summer is to be Hudson-Odoi’s permanent departure from Chelsea, it is a shame that things did not work out for him here in spite of doing well while coming up the ranks.
For the Blues, it would be important to use the funds generated from player sales and use to make clever signings in the summer window.
Mauricio Pochettino may have a lot to do in terms of selling and buying players that it might endanger his pre-season plans as a manager.
