Leeds United are said to be keen on signing Nat Phillips from Liverpool this summer, attempting to seal a loan deal, while the Reds prefer a permanent sale.

As we enter a key week in the pre-season preparations under Daniel Farke, the club are yet to confirm an incoming transfer yet as the 49ers Enterprises seemingly continue to be held up by the EFL.

Interest in signings isn’t in short supply though, with Farke needing something of an overhaul as things stand.

Nat Phillips to Leeds?

The Athletic revealed at the back end of June that Leeds hold interest in Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips this summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s side value the defender at around £10million if a permanent transfer were to be discussed, with Phillips seemingly surplus to requirements after playing just five senior games last season.

Farke is said to be very keen on the 26-year-old, having wanted to sign him during his time at Norwich City previously.

What’s the latest?

The Sun are now claiming that Leeds’ initial attempts to bring the defender to Elland Road are with a loan approach to the Reds.

However, they look likely to see such a move rebuffed by the Anfield outfit, with Liverpool’s preference being that Phillips leaves the club permanently:

“The centre-half, 26, can leave Anfield but they would prefer a sale while the Elland Road outfit are trying their luck for a short-term deal.”
