Everton are in desperate need of attacking reinforcement this summer, with the club’s struggles in the final third clear for all to see.

The issue wouldn’t be so bad if  star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin could stay fully fit for an entire campaign, but that really seems unlikely given his injury history.

Neal Maupay meanwhile has hardly set Goodison Park alight since joining from Brighton, while youngster Ellis Simms has just signed for Championship club Coventry City.

The whole situation ultimately means the Toffees need a new striker if they are to have any hope of having a successful Premier League campaign next season.

And the Merseyside club have now been handed a boost in their search for a new hitman, with FootballTransfers noting that Leicester City ace Jamie Vardy, who is on Everton’s summer shortlist, can leave the Foxes this summer.

He has a year remaining on his current deal, but the Championship club seem willing to let the iconic forward go ahead of the new season.

Vardy hasn’t had the best of times lately, but every club in English football is fully aware of just how deadly the lethal striker can be on his day.

The 36-year-old boasts a stunning record of 136 goals and 49 assists from his 307 Premier League appearances, with his feats in the final third helping Leicester to an unforgettable league title once upon a time.

The veteran striker is nowhere near as lethal as he once was, but he could still represent a superb option for Sean Dyche next season, even if it was to be just a short-term deal.
