Coventry City news from CoventryLive as academy graduate Jack Burroughs agrees a fresh deal with the Sky Blues
Jack Burroughs has pledged his future to Coventry City by signing a new two-year contract with the club.
The 22-year-old midfielder has agreed terms on a fresh deal that will run until the summer of 2025. Academy product and Sky Blues fan Burroughs made 14 appearances for Mark Robins’ side during the 2022-23 season.
The club said in a statement on Friday: “We are delighted to announce that Coventry City academy graduate Jack Burroughs has signed a new contract to extend his stay with the club. The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal that will keep him in the West Midlands until 2025.
“Last season, Burroughs made his first Sky Bet Championship start for the Sky Blues after being named in Mark Robins’ starting eleven for City’s away clash at Watford, helping his teammates to a memorable 1-0 win. A lifelong Coventry City supporter, Burroughs joined the Sky Blues as a seven-year-old and has since risen through the academy ranks to become a regular member of the first-team squad.
“Early-career loan spells with Nuneaton Borough, Gloucester City and Ross County have helped him to gain valuable first-team experience as he readies himself for the 2023-24 season.”
Burroughs, who can also play in defence, said of the decision to sign a new contract: “It was a no-brainer. It’s been a successful season for me and for the group this season. To get the recognition for all the hard work I’ve put in this season, of course, I couldn’t say no to committing for another two seasons.
“It means the world to me. I’ve been a Cov fan since I was born. All my family are Cov fans and my friends as well, so it means the world to me and puts a big smile on my face.”
