Karl Darlow is a wanted man with the Newcastle United ‘keeper being tracked by at least five clubs that we know of but now it seems Leeds United are very keen on the 32-year-old.
Daniel Farke has been tasked with getting Leeds out of the Championship at the first time of asking following their relegation last season and it looks like he has his eye on Karl Darlow to help him achieve that.
Farke and his data specialists believe Darlow, who is currently on £30,000-a-week (via Salary Sport) at Newcastle, would be the ideal fit for Leeds.
Leeds face competition from four other clubs for Karl Darlow
This is according to the Yorkshire Evening Post who also name Bayern Munich‘s Alexander Nubel as a potential goalkeeping recruit.
Darlow looks to be on his way out of St James’ Park this summer with Leeds United being joined by Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers, Hull City and Bournemouth all chasing his signature.
Leeds will feel that their biggest competition for Darlow would be Bournemouth due to their Premier League status but there’s also the fact that Darlow spent six months on loan at Hull where he impressed the manager and staff to the point they want to make him a permanent addition.
Darlow still has some good years in him as a top ‘keeper
Wherever Darlow ends up this summer, the club who lands him will be getting a top quality ‘keeper, especially if he goes to a Championship club, he could help his team challenge at the top, no doubt.
His departure will see his nine-year stint as a Newcastle player come to an end if you include the 2014/15 season when he was loaned back to Nottingham Forest.
A great servant to the club who just wasn’t able to grab his chance when it came to him, he’ll always fondly thought of on Tyneside.
