Robbie Savage says Manchester United defender Harry Maguire would be a ‘very good signing’ for David Moyes’ West Ham United.

With the Declan Rice transfer money now on the table at the London Stadium, it’s time for the club to spend that money.

David Moyes’ side will be competing in the Europa League next season, so not only do they need more quality, but added depth also, with Savage backing Harry Maguire to make the move, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

The 30-year-old couldn’t have got a more clear sign that he is no longer wanted at Old Trafford because Erik ten Hag stripped him of the captain’s armband on Sunday.

Whilst it increases his chances of leaving, it’s not guaranteed because the 57-cap England star was happy to sit on the bench last season, so why would anything change?

This is probably now all down to the money that would be put on the table for his talents and Savage thinks he needs to ‘go and play’.

“I have seen that (links with West Ham), go and play,” said Savage. “West Ham are in the Europa League next season. He would be a very good signing for West Ham.”

Would Maguire start for West Ham?

Kurt Zouma has been West Ham’s best defender during the past few seasons, while Nayef Aguerd is a Rolls-Royce of a player.

Injuries disrupted him a lot last season following his move to the club, but when he was on the pitch, he showcased what he was all about.

Maguire doesn’t get ahead of those two, so it begs the question as to why the club would throw big-money at a player that won’t even start for them.
