Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson has expressed his delight on Instagram at Ethan Ampadu securing a transfer from Chelsea to Leeds United.

With new Leeds United boss Daniel Farke through the doors, he is starting to get comfortable in his new environment and he has made Wales international, Ethan Ampadu, his first signing.

The 22-year-old has been in and around his new Leeds teammates during these past few days, and on Wednesday evening, he posted on Instagram ‘Thank You to everyone for the welcome’.

It has been claimed that the Whites, who were relegated to the Championship last season, have put £7 million on the table for the versatile defender (BBC Sport).

When Cesar Azpilicueta left Chelsea this summer, it meant that Ampadu became the club’s longest-serving player, despite only making 12 appearances, with the player going out on loan four times, including to Sheffield United.

But all of that now has come to an end, with the Welshman finding a new home to the delight of a few players from across English football, including his national teammate, Brennan Johnson.

In the comments section of Ampadu’s IG post, Forest star Johnson wrote ”Let’s go bro!!!! added with a few love heart emojis, whilst former Chelsa man Davide Zappacosta added ‘All the best, Ampa’.

Tough gig for Ampadu

This isn’t going to be easy for Ampadu because he is walking into a team that has taken a lot of beatings and needs picking up big time.

One of the main reasons why Leeds went down last season was because of their quite abject defence. At no point did they showcase fight, desire or reliability to stop conceding and get out of their mess.

Several players have since left, mainly on loan, but a large chunk are still there and Ampadu is going to be tasked with providing that freshness and higher level of quality.
