While new arrivals are the biggest thing on the agenda for Newcastle United, selling players is equally as important.

With the club dealing with FFP constraints at the moment, raising funds and space on the wage bill by way of sales can only be a good thing.

Allan Saint-Maximin is widely expected to leave Newcastle for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia and Karl Darlow is linked with a move to Bournemouth.

Still, there are other names who need to leave and one of those is Ryan Fraser.

The Scotland international was banished to the club’s U21 squad in February and Eddie Howe came out in public to say he only wanted committed players at the club.

With Anthony Gordon and potentially Harvey Barnes joining Miguel Almiron, Jacob Murphy, Joelinton and Alexander Isak as wide options, the 29-year-old’s first-team chances look even bleaker than before.

Indeed, it seems the club tried to use Fraser as a makeweight.

Ryan Fraser was initially involved in Tino Livramento talks

According to The Chronicle, Fraser was initially involved in the talks with Southampton over a move for Tino Livramento.

It is claimed the south coast club had previously been interested in the former Bournemouth forward back in January.

While it seems the idea of him moving to Saints in part-exchange is now off the table, the report adds Fraser has been told he has no future at Newcastle and the club are working hard to move him on.

Fraser’s exit is an important one for Newcastle

While the Scot is hardly going to attract the kind of money in terms of transfer fee as Saint-Maximin, getting him off the wage bill would be a massive financial boost.

The Chronicle have previously reported that the player is paid in the region of £70k-per-week so ridding of that would be quite a significant save.

Finding a buyer may not be easy give his lack of involvement and sizeable salary but any exit would do the club a world of good.
