Nottingham Forest are one of the clubs keen to sign Andrea Cambiaso from Juventus this summer. The Reds want to sign the player but Tottenham are also keeping him on their radar for now.
Football Italia has claimed that Forest are in the mix to sign the Italian performer. He joined Juventus in a deal worth roughly £8 million last summer from Genoa but was loaned straight out to Bologna.
The 23-year-old made 34 appearances out on loan last season. However, his performances haven’t persuaded Juventus to make him part of their squad during 2023/24 and he’s available for £18 million.
Milan could also be keen on the talented youngster. They have registered their interest to Juventus; with Forest and Tottenham both informing the Old Lady of their desire to land him too.
Cambiaso has played eight times for the Italy under-21s. Given the talent he possesses, it wouldn’t come as a big surprise to see him make the jump up to play for the senior team at some point.
Forest are desperately seeking a left-back before the season starts. Last season, Cambiaso made 20 appearances in that position and also featured seven times as a wing-back on the left.
He can play on the opposite side, however. Having a player who can essentially fulfil two sides of the pitch isn’t to be sniffed at and perhaps that’s what has alerted Forest towards his availability.
Forest rival Tottenham and Milan for Cambiaso
This looks like an interesting link on the face of things. Although he’s something of an unknown quantity, the size of the clubs interested in his services surely makes him a player worth targeting.
Cambiaso has played for Empoli during his career and sporting director Pietro Accardi praised him. He called him an ‘interesting prospect’ and said that he’d ‘grown a lot’ under the influence of manager Paolo Zanetti.
It’s not clear at this stage what Cambiaso would like to do. It does seem clear, however, that Forest are keen to land him this summer as they bid to end their search for a left-back.
Rumour rating: 7/10 – It’s hard to score him any higher given that we don’t claim to know a great deal about him at this stage.
Given that Tottenham and Milan are keen, the Reds could also miss out on signing Cambiaso before the transfer window ends.
This would be a nice addition to the Forest squad, however. Cambiaso is young, has experience in a top league and would fit the profile of a Forest signing just nicely.
