Nottingham Forest 30-year-old receives Saudi Arabia offer

Nottingham Forest star Serge Aurier has received an offer from the Saudi Arabian Premier League. The Ivorian only signed a new contract extension at the City Ground after last season.

The Reds stayed up on the penultimate day of the campaign. They beat Arsenal 1-0 at the City Ground and it proved to be a mission accomplished from a Forest perspective.

Aurier was a standout performer across the campaign. He signed on a free transfer after helping Villarreal reach the semi-final of the Champions League during the 2021/22 campaign.

Now, The Telegraph claims that he’s being courted by clubs in Saudi Arabia; with the player receiving an offer. It does seem somewhat strange, considering that the player only recently extended his contract.

Aurier is a seasoned performer. He’s played for PSG and Tottenham during his career and has a brilliant pedigree as a Premier League football.

Last season, his experience was absolutely vital as Forest avoided relegation. Given that he didn’t cost the Reds a penny in the way of a transfer fee, he proved a very shrewd signing.

Aurier made 28 appearances for the Reds over the course of the 2022/23 campaign. He scored a single goal against Chelsea in January and quickly held down the right-back spot.

Forest star Aurier subject of Saudi Arabia interest

This one does seem a little bit strange, considering he’s only just signed a new deal to remain at Forest. Still, football is booming in Saudi Arabia and the finances on offer are turning heads.

Aurier is one of several Premier League players to have received an offer. Now, it looks as though Forest will face an anxious period to discover whether they will poach an important player.
