Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as the Reds reportedly have a bid rejected for New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic
Nottingham Forest have reportedly handed a transfer bid rejected for New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
The Reds are said to have made an offer of around $8million (£6.2m) plus add-ons, which has been knocked back by the Major League Soccer outfit. It comes as Forest appear to be stepping up their efforts to sign a new goalkeeper.
French club FC Nantes have made a similar offer, which was also turned down, according to The Athletic. The chances of either club being able to complete a deal for the 23-year-old before the transfer deadline are slim.
It’s said that New England Revolution would rather wait until the winter to negotiate a deal. That’s because the summer transfer window closes for MLS clubs on Wednesday, meaning they would be left with little time to find a replacement.
Forest have also been linked with a move for Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner, as they continue negotiating with Manchester United over a move for Dean Henderson. Forest will only sign one of the two as first-choice, though it’s unclear how Petrovic would be viewed among the pecking order at the City Ground.
Ironically, Petrovic was Turner’s replacement at New England Revolution. He signed in 2022 and has made 47 appearances, finishing second in the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year voting last term.
