Nottingham Forest have now made an offer to sign Rosario Central striker Alejo Veliz as they look to strengthen their team. AC Milan are also keen on signing the player who could head to Europe this month.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Forest have made the first bid. Furthermore, the club are also willing to give him a contract until 2028 if they can strike a deal with the Argentinean outfit.
Veliz is a 19-year-old striker with a burgeoning reputation. During the 2022/23 campaign, he’s scored 11 goals and claimed one assist, with clubs now monitoring his progress with intrigue.
Di Marzio claims that meetings are taking place between Rosario and interested parties. They’re keen to recoup around £13 million for his services; although it’s claimed they could accept slightly less.
Forest probably could do with a new striker. Taiwo Awoniyi was the man tasked with scoring the goals for the club last season and he found the net 11 times in all competitions.
That wasn’t a bad return for his first season in the Premier League. He will be hoping to kick on during 2023/24 and Steve Cooper will want to make sure he has some competition for his place.
Forest have made an offer for Argentine wonderkid Veliz
This would be an exciting signing for Forest to make, albeit a risky one. The Reds need to get another forward sorted and the 19-year-old has bags of potential.
Given that he’s only ever played in Argentina, it would be interesting. He would have to prove himself in the Premier League but he looks more than capable.
Veliz clearly knows where the back of the net is. He’s bagged 11 goals this season and seems like a natural-born finisher.
Forest have already allowed Sam Surridge to leave this summer; whilst Emmanuel Dennis could also leave with Atalanta preparing to sign him.
Rumour rating: 8/10 – There is a real need for Forest to complete some signings and Veliz would be an exciting one.
The jury might remain out for a little while but the Forest fan base could grow to love Veliz if he hits the ground running.
The clock is ticking ahead do the new campaign and it’s clear that the club need to get moving when it comes to new signings.
