LATEST: Leicester City squad numbers has been revealed as Stephy Mavididi gets the special number amid two gaps for new signings

Four of Leicester City’s five summer signings have been handed numbers in the first 11, while the likes of Hamza Choudhury, Boubakary Soumare, and Kasey McAteer have changed shirts

New signing Stephy Mavididi will be the man to fill James Maddison’s old 10 shirt with the Leicester City players handed their squad numbers for the new Championship season.

Four of the five summer recruits have been given numbers in the starting 11, with Conor Coady at four and Harry Winks at eight, as previously, and with Callum Doyle the new number 5. Newest arrival Mavididi has taken on the responsibility of the number 10 shirt worn by Maddison for the past five years.

The final new signing, Mads Hermansen, is number 30, with Danny Ward, who did not play a single minute in pre-season, still number 1. There are gaps too for further signings, most notably with the 6 and 7 shirts vacated by Jonny Evans, who looks set to snub a return to City in favour of a move to Manchester United, and Harvey Barnes, who earned a £38m move to Newcastle last month.

There are three further changes among current City players. Hamza Choudhury, on loan at Watford last season, has traded his 29 shirt for Ayoze Perez’s old 17 jersey. Boubakary Soumare has swapped his 42 shirt for 24, previously owned by Papy Mendy. That was Soumare’s number of choice during his time at Lille.

And then Kasey McAteer, a prominent figure in pre-season after impressing Enzo Maresca is up to number 35 having worn number 47 in his couple of appearances last term. Wanya Marcal-Madivadua, number 40, and Ben Nelson, number 45, have also been listed by the club, with 29 players in total on the squad list.
