Wolves concluded their pre-season on Saturday with a 3-1 win against Ligue 1 side Rennes in front of an excited Molineux crowd.
Wolves had initially opened the scoring through Rayan Ait-Nouri in the 11th minute with a brilliant volley.
Rennes then pegged them back three minutes later from the penalty spot.
Old Gold then regained their advantage through Joao Gomes after the break following a sublime team move.
Hee Chan Hwang then concluded the scoring making it 3-1 in the 67th minute after another well worked team goal.
Here are three things we learned…
Lopetegui would be silly to walk
With all the reports pointing toward Julen Lopetegui departing Wolves, we think that would be a huge error for him.
Having showcased today that his side can outplay anyone on their day and are capable of reaching a high level.
Some of the football on display at the Molineux today was immaculate and should have Wolves fans very excited.
Huge lift ahead of the season
Going into this game the mood in the Wolves camp seemed to be at an all time low.
With reports suggesting that the boss could walk and following Matt Doherty’s comments last weekend which suggested that he was disappointed with the recruitment.
This result will be massive for the mood in training ahead of a huge week which culminates next Monday at Old Trafford against a strong looking United side.
Nunes will be key
Considering the £42.2million spent on him last season, Matheus Nunes had a somewhat underwhelming season.
However he has began to show Wolves fans exactly why he was signed through his increasingly impressive performances.
He played immaculately against Rennes and played a pivotal part in the two second half goals Wolves scored.
