Wolves rounded off their pre-season in style, beating Rennes 3-1 at Molineux on Saturday.

There has been a lot of negativity about Wolves in recent weeks due to the club’s current financial situation.

Fans have been frustrated with the lack of incomings this summer.

And so a top performance was probably needed, just to give supporters a reason to be encouraged.

And the players turned one in yesterday against Rennes.

It was a brilliant display that saw Wolves play some great football, create chances and be organised.

Wolves have shown that they are capable of turning good teams over, and the goal now is to replicate such performances in 2023/24.

It will be key for the attacking players especially to show up this season, with Wolves having obviously had real problems in front of goal in recent times.

And one man fans are really excited about is Sasa Kalajdzic.

Joao Gomes sends message to Sasa Kalajdzic after 3-1 win over Rennes

Yesterday, Kalajdzic came off the bench for Wolves, after starting in midweek against Luton.

Just like against the Hatters, the Austria international was a handful against Rennes.

And his involvement in the final goal by the superb Hwang Hee-chan was just brilliant.

He brought down a long ball from Jose Sa and slipped the ball to Matheus Nunes.

Just a few seconds later, he slipped Hwang in for a finish across the goalkeeper.

It was a brilliant goal, and one that probably wouldn’t be possible without Kalajdzic.

After the game, Sasa Kalajdzic posted on Instagram, writing simply ‘Excited for the new season’.

Joao Gomes was among those to comment, writing ‘very good’, along with a clapping emoji.

The Brazilian’s feelings will no doubt be shared by many Wolves fans.

Kalajdzic could be a complete game-changer for Wolves

It has been brilliant to see Kalajdzic featuring in pre-season for Wolves.

The £15 million signing from Stuttgart was so unlucky last season to sustain that ACL injury on his debut.

But he’s back now, and he could be a game-changer for Wolves.

That goal from Hwang perfectly demonstrated what he is all about.

And actually, if you watch Kalajdzic after he’s given the ball to Nunes, he then makes a brilliant run through the middle and could have had a chance to score himself had Nunes not seen Hwang.

And then, when Hwang had the ball, Kalajdzic was right in the middle of the box waiting to pounce if the goalkeeper spilled the ball.

It is certainly going to be fascinating to see how he gets on this season. Because the early signs have been very good.
