QPR face a hurdle in their pursuit of Arsenal defender Ryan Alebiosu with the loan fee a sticking point, as per West London Sport.

Alebiosu, 21, spent last season on loan at Kilmarnock in Scotland. He made 29 appearances across all competitions north of the border including 22 in Scotland’s top tier.

Despite a relegation worry Alebiosu was able to help his side keep their spot in Scotland’s Premiership and returned to the Emirates earlier in the summer.

The young right back can also fill a gap on the right side of midfield making him a handy asset to have, especially over a long campaign.

Reports emerged last month stating Arsenal were once again willing to let him leave on loan and QPR and Rotherham United were both credited with interest.

Now though it is believed that whilst Gareth Ainsworth wants at least one Premier League loan this summer, the fee Arsenal are asking for may be too much for the R’s to meet.

A tough battle

QPR appear to be up against it this season. It would’ve been hoped the transfer window provided a good opportunity for them to strengthen ahead of what looks to be a hard season at Loftus Road, but it seems they simply don’t have the funds required to really make progress in their squad.

Alebiosu will benefit more from senior football than playing in Arsenal’s academy sides so a loan move seems likely this summer, but unless QPR can negotiate the asking price down they will struggle to win any sort of transfer race for him.

There are around four weeks left of the transfer window, and it will be hoped QPR manage to make some inroads in the market before it shuts at the start of next month.

Next up for QPR is a trip to Cardiff City this weekend.
