Roy Hodgson loses cool in touchline scrap after shove from Sheffield United star Max Lowe
Roy Hodgson has clashed with a Sheffield United player on the touchline in Crystal Palace’s opening day victory.
The Eagles boss was stood in his technical area as the ball landed near his feet during the clash at Bramall Lane, with Max Lowe coming over to take a throw.
With Sheffield United 1-0 down, Lowe was keen to take a quick throw as they looked to find a way back into the contest, however Hodgson was having none of it.
As Lowe stooped down to pick up the ball, the 76-year-old did all that he could to slow the player down, leading Lowe to forcefully grab the ball in order to take the throw.
However Hodgson was having none of it as he shoved the defender back, leading to a heated scuffle in the technical area with Jordan Ayew also getting involved.
Hodgson took charge of Crystal Palace on a caretaker basis at the end of last season before signing a one-year deal to stay on at Selhurst Park.
His first match back in permanent charge of the Eagles ended perfectly for Hodgson though, with Crystal Palace earning a 1-0 win.
Odsonne Edouard scored the goal from close range after some good work from Ayew in the buildup.
As a result, Palace came away with three precious points, while the Blades will be made to wait for their first points after securing promotion last term.
