Latest Leicester City news as Wanya Marcal-Madivadua explains how it felt to achieve his dream of scoring for the first team at the King Power Stadium

Leicester City winger Wanya Marcal-Madivadua was “ecstatic” to score his first goal for the club this weekend.

The 20-year-old netted the opener against Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon, putting his team 1-0 up as they went on to earn their fourth victory from as many games in all competitions this season.

Marcal-Madivadua has broken into the first team under Enzo Maresca this season, and repaid the manager with his first goal. The ball fell to him from a corner and he struck it well to open the scoring. Speaking after the match, the youngster was asked how it felt.

“So when I saw the corner coming in, I knew that there was going to be a few rebounds, so I just thought, stay on my toes there and the ball might land to me,” Marcal told City’s Foxes Hub.

“I hit it sweetly. Don’t really get those often, so it’s kind of a collector’s item, but yeah, hit it sweetly and it went into the top corner.

“Yeah, (the feeling) was amazing. I’ve been here for about eight years, and I’ve always dreamed of scoring at the King Power in front of the fans. So as soon as that went in, I was ecstatic, really.”

Having joined the club as a 12-year-old back in 2015, the Portugal under-21 international has gone from strength to strength having progressed through the age groups. He is under contract at the club until next summer, but there are hopes that deal can be extended.
