Celtic have held early talks over a new contract for star striker Kyogo Furuhashi in a bid to keep him at the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Japanese front man has interest from Premier League trio Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace as well as Serie A and Bundesliga clubs.
Ange Postecoglou departed for Tottenham on Tuesday and reports have suggested he wants Kyogo to join him in London.
However, there has been no contact from Spurs over the 28-year-old yet.
The Scottish Football player of the year scored 34 times for The Hoops this season and has been the standout player for Celtic in their treble winning campaign.
Football Insider has learned from well-placed sources there is high interest in his signature, he has been stung by Postecoglou’s exit but he is happy in Glasgow and won’t rush into any decision over the coming weeks.
Celtic have him tied down on a deal until 2025 and there is no release clause but the club are keen to offer him an improved deal that keeps him for at least another year.
Celtic are aware that if a big-money bid is submitted the situation can change fast.
Celtic could face losing an number of key men this summer with high interest in the likes of Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley, so will be key to try and tie down as many of their side as possible.
Kyogo signed for Celtic in the summer of 2021 and has gone on to score 54 goals in only 83 appearances, and he has also been capped by Japan on 16 occasions.
