Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes has emerged as a target for Manchester City – and the next week could be about to get interesting.

Wolves currently don’t have huge depth in their squad.

The club had to sell a number of key players earlier this summer in order to balance the books.

And it’s thought a couple more sales may be needed.

And now, City are interested in Nunes.

It’s been reported that Wolves aren’t looking to sell Nunes given the late stage of the transfer window we’re at.

But it’s also been said that Wolves would consider ‘inflated bids’ for players.

Wolves should ask for £85 million from City for Matheus Nunes

In an ideal world, there would not be interest from Man City in Nunes right now. It is not what the club need.

He’s arguably Wolves’ best player on paper, and he could be crucial this term following the departure of Ruben Neves.

But every player has a price in football.

And Wolves obviously still have this concerning financial situation going on.

Molineux officials could therefore be tempted to speak with City.

But what kind of valuation should be placed on Nunes?

Well, surely it has to be around the £85 million mark.

First of all, there is just one week remaining in the transfer window. This automatically means that players become worth more to their clubs. Because it’s harder to get a replacement in.

Secondly, £85,000-a-week star Nunes is a very unique player. He may have lacked consistency so far in England, but very few midfielders can actually do what he does.

Pep Guardiola is on record as being a huge fan on Nunes, having called him one of the best players in the world a couple of years ago.

But the biggest reason Wolves should be looking around the £85 million mark is because that’s how much City were reportedly about to spend on Paqueta, who is not too dissimilar to Nunes in terms of age and profile.

That move fell through because Paqueta is now at the centre of a gambling probe.

Had it not been for that, then City might have got him.

Wolves know that kind of money is there, and should therefore demand it.

It’s perhaps unlikely they’d get £85 million. But by starting high, it could bring City up from what they’re currently willing to spend.

That said, if Nunes starts to agitate for a move then things well could get complicated for Wolves.
