It has been reported that Manchester City ‘won’t be held to ransom’ over paying an extortionate fee to sign Matheus Nunes from Wolves.
This comes from journalist Mike Minay as the Sky Blues seem to be extremely interested in signing the £38 million (Guardian) man.
But Manchester City seem to have internally decided how high they are willing to go to ensure Matheus Nunes makes his way to the Etihad Stadium and they could choose not to go beyond that figure.

Branded as ‘incredible’ by Matheus Nunes, the 24-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most well-rounded midfielders in the Premier League.
But it was reported on Thursday that it remains highly unlikely that both the Wolves midfielder and Eberechi Eze don sky blue this summer.
A reason behind that could well be, as revealed that Manchester City ‘won’t be held to ransom’ over a final fee to be paid towards the addition of Matheus Nunes.
So much so that the treble-winners would be ‘happy to walk’ away if they believe that Gary O’Neil’s side evaluation of the player is far higher than theirs.

What separates Manchester City from several other elite clubs is that when they are desperate to sign a certain player, i.e., Matheus Nunes in this case, they tend to oblige to the selling club’s valuation and pay through their noses to get the deal done.
City, on the other hand, as seen in the cases of Declan Rice, Harry Maguire and Alexis Sanchez to name a few have a valuation in mind and actively work against being bullied in the market.
It is due to this very policy that the Sky Blues have managed not to set a poor business precedent so far and one has to back their backup plans in place if they decide against signing Nunes, if they believe he has been overvalued by Wolves.
