The latest Nottingham Forest transfer news from Nottinghamshire Live as midfielder Tyrese Fornah joins Forest’s fierce rivals

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that midfielder Tyrese Fornah has joined Derby County on a permanent basis.

The 23-year-old moves to Pride Park on a two-year deal, making the switch to the Reds’ East Midlands rivals after five years on Trentside.

He looked poised to break into the Forest first team in the Championship days, but promotion to the Premier League has left him well down the pecking order. He has now opted to move on to pastures new, and Derby have moved to snap him up.

Fornah began his career with Brighton before being picked up by Forest five years ago. A tall, athletic central midfielder, he has extensive experience in League One after playing 58 times for Plymouth and Shrewsbury respectively.

He then impressed at Reading last season despite their relegation, playing 35 times in the Championship, scoring twice.

Former Reading boss Paul Ince was impressed by potential last season, saying : “I’m always on Ty’s case because I know when I was a 22-year-old midfielder that people were on to me, like Mark Hughes and Bryan Robson.

“I know he can be a top player and the last two games he has been absolutely outstanding. It wasn’t just about his goal, he’s growing and maturing and that’s what you want.

“He’s maturing each game and you can forget he’s never played at this level.”
