Watford sign former London City Lionesses midfielder Fleming

Watford have signed former London City Lionesses midfielder Charlotte Fleming on a free transfer.

The Golden Girls announced news of their latest transfer via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Fleming joins Watford after leaving former club London City Lionesses at the end of last season. The midfielder spent two years with the Dartford-based club in which she made 20 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Last season started with real misfortune for Fleming. The player sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury early in the campaign and she was sidelined for the remainder of the season. The player is now well on the way to making her comeback, although Watford fans will have to wait a few weeks to see her pull on a black and gold shirt.

Fleming is the latest of a whole host of summer signings made by Watford manager Damon Lathrope. The Golden Girls have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market with Fleming being their 11th new addition.

Watford kick-off the new Barclays Women’s Championship season with a home fixture against Durham on Sunday. The Hertfordshire club will again be staging their home matches at Wealdstone FC’s Grosvenor Vale this season.
