David Moyes still wants two more signings after Mohammed Kudus deal agreed at West Ham
West Ham is an attractive place for prospective players and the club are still looking to bring in a “couple” more additions, according to manager David Moyes.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported via Twitter (25 August) that the Hammers had reached a verbal agreement with Ajax for the signing of 23-year-old Ghana international midfielder, Mohammed Kudus.
A few days prior to this, the club announced the signing of central defender Konstantinos Mavropanos (22 August). It has therefore been a busy week for the East London side, and the announcement of Kudus will take their total number of signings up to four, and David Moyes is keen to not stop there.
“Maybe we get another couple before we wrap up. We hope we’ve spent the money really well but we’re only two games into it,” Moyes told the press, in quotes reported by The Daily Mirror’s print edition of their football section (26 August, page 3).
“There is a pull to West Ham and, I’ve got to say, Tim (Steitden) is working really hard to get players in. We’re working to try to identify the ones we’d like to bring in. I feel there is optimism about it.”

While the quotes from Moyes that claim that they’re still looking to bring in a “couple” more additions will catch the majority of supporters’ eyes, his words on technical director Steitden are just as revealing. It has been widely reported throughout the summer that the pair have not been seeing eye to eye, but the Scot’s nod to his colleague’s hard work suggests they have now put their differences to one side.
And that is clear from the business they are doing. After going so long without making any signings, there has now been a flurry of activity at the London Stadium, with some fantastic additions made to the squad. Should the Kudus deal all go through smoothly, it would represent a significant coup for the club.
He is a player who was on the radar of many top sides and has plenty of potential to develop into one of the Premier League’s deadliest attacking midfielders.
What else can West Ham pull off before the window slams shut?
